Jean Giraud (Moebius)

Jean Giraud is a French author and comic strip artist, which is known under his own name but also under the legendary pseudonyms of Moebius and Gir.

In 1963, under the signature of Gir, he created with Jean-Michel Charlier, then director of Pilot magazine, the famous western comic series Blueberry.

In 1975, with Jean-Pierre Dionnet and Philippe Druillet, he founded the publishing house “Les Humanoïdes Associés” and the magazine, Heavy Metal. Inside it, Jean Giraud developed the unique style which he signed Moebius, that he had already tested a few years ago in the magazine Hara-Kiri.
Publishing such groundbreaking works that revolutionized the art of comics, such as Arzach, “Le Garage hermétique”, Jean Giraud developed with writer Dan O'Bannon, met on the aborted film project Dunes from Alexandro Jodowsky, The Long Tomorrow (parody of American crime fiction, which takes place in a futuristic world). Subsequently, he creates, always with Alexandro Jodorowsky, a new series of comics, “L’Incal” who was a great success.

In 1983, with the comics The World of Edena, not only he draws, but he also wrote the screenplay.

In 1997, he and his wife Isabelle founded the publishing house Moebius Production / Stardom where together they publish books, and organize exhibitions of his work throughout the world. Always prolific in the audiovisual world in 2003, he created his own mini-animated series: Arzak Rhapsody.
