Pierre Boulle

Pierre Boulle is a French writer. After a glorious past as a resistant, he began to write lately, after his forties. One of his first novels The Bridge on the river Kwaï (published in 1952) is an international success. It’s partially due to its adaptation on the big screen by David Lean five years later. One of his other novels Planet of the Apes is an immediate success. The several adaptations based on it have proven until today how powerful this story was.

Pierre Boulle, with Jacques Spitz and René Barjavel, is one of the very first writers who worked intensively for the Science-fiction genre in France. He was involved in the very first book of French SF short stories. Short stories are indeed the best part of his art.
