“Visitor” shuttlecraft original filming miniature from V: The Final Battle

This “Visitor” shuttle is constructed of resin, hand-painted, airbrushed and detailed with applied decal “windows,” “Visitor” insignia on the nose and alien language markings. It features the landing gear in the “down” position and has a threaded rod on one side for mounting to film the flying sequences.

This ship design us the creation of Chuck Davis* (Production Designer) over the course of a single week-end, and it could be modularized, opened up in the middle so different sections could be put in it to get different looks and different ships. The tanker craft version that was 65 feet long, cost $25,000 to  make.

They were 4 designs : the "fighter", the "squad shuttle", the "passenger shuttle" and the "tanker". This model is the "squad shuttle" version.

The miniatures in the series were reported to have been modeled by veteran VFX wizard Greg Jein. The landing gear of this model were built by a young John Knoll, freelancing for Greg Jein.

It measures 27 in. long x 13 in. wide x 7 ½ in. tall. A rare and instantly recognizable miniature from this imaginative sci-fi TV series.
