The ship is wired for illumination at the bow, cockpit and rear thrusters and when plugged in it makes for an impressive display. This model was built by THE MAGIC MODEL COMPANY and the Model Unit Supervisor was Jose Granell.

The Jupiter 2 crash sequence whas shot on the back lot at Shepperton Studios, using this model. The winch system failed so the FX team of The Magic Camera Company used José Granell's (unit supervisor) V8 Range Rover to pull the Jupiter 2 model.
