Original Model Shuttle Escape Pod

This is an original model shuttle escape pod from Starship Troopers. This is a large scale model, measuring approximately 36" long. Two of these models were created for the film, this one was used for all of the flying shots, and the other was on a track and used for the shot of the shuttle crashing. There is a mounting point for the "model mover" at the back of the ship, which can be accessed through removable hatches on two sides. The other side is permanently open. The permanently open side has also had the small wing removed, as it was interfering with the "model mover." You can see the shuttle without the wing on in one shot in the film. The block of wood on the very bottom was added at some point as the model was sagging on the mount since it was so heavily cantilevered. The block of wood rested on a simple C-stand to keep it level.   The Carmen figure originally in the model was removed at some point, either taken as a memento or for re-use elsewhere. The unpainted casting here is recently made from an original casting and could be finished if desired. It is simply resting in the seat for the photos. The Carmen figure was the same body as Zander, just with a different head.

The shuttle measures approximately 13“ x 15” x 36” (33cm x 38cm x 91cm)
