Rhaandarite (Billy Van Zandt) ensign grey “class-A” Starfleet uniform Original Costume

This grey “Class-A” Starfleet Uniform is used in the movie Star Trek The Motion Picture and it’s composed of a grey "Class-A" Starfleet uniform shirt, with embroidered Starfleet emblem with grey background indicating Science Division, single broken braid on sleeves indicates rank of ensign and bio-monitoring buckle. The costume has a manufacturer label from Western Costume, that inscribed Billy Van Zandt, which played the part of Rhaandarite ensign on the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Billy Vandt Zandt is the husband of actrice Adrienne Barbeau.In an interview to startrek.com she reveals "when my husband they first hired him, it was before Mr. Nimoy had agreed to do the film. So it was really supposed to a very big role. Then Leonard agreed to do the film. So Billy says, 'I was carrying a spear for a year, but I got to work with Bob Wise and study him as a director.' And He still even has the cast of his head sitting on his office wall." Now Billy now mostly writes and produces such shows as Newhart, Martin and The Hughleys.

The pants has the Western Costume label inside inscribed Phil Weyland, a close friend of William Shatner and which has worked as his stand-in in several films like Star Trek The Motion Picture , Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III The Search for Spock, Star Trek IV The Voyage Home and television series such as T.J. Hooker and Boston Legal.

Robert Fletcher designed the costumes used in the first four Star Trek films.
Starfleet uniforms based on his designs were also used in Star Trek V The Final Frontier, Star Trek VI The Undiscover Country, Star Trek Generations as well as in some episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation and Star Trek Voyager.
