Luke Skywalker on Tauntaun Original Painting by Roger Kastel
Award-winning artist Roger Kastel was invited to paint this movie poster by George Lucas for his Star Wars sequel, The Empire Strikes Back. Kastel had shot to fame after Universal Studios bought the rights to his iconic image of JAWS and used it for the one-sheet promoting the film.
This is the first of three paintings commissioned by Lucasfilm with the final finished painting becoming known as one of the greatest movie posters in history. This first artist study was sent revised and can now be owned by the highest bidder. The second version is owned by the artist, and the final painting is owned by George Lucas himself.
In addition to the artist Roger Kastel's signature, the painting also bears the signature of the subject, Mark Hamill.
