The Empire Strikes Back Palitoy figure and Millennium Flacon Toy Shop Display

This is an extremely rare British Empire Strikes Back shop display, containing Star Wars Palitoy figures and Millennium Falcon shaped to fit, mounted on a custom painted base and shelf, against a hand painted backdrop. The circular base is protected by a quarter shape perspex dome, with the maker's label. This display was produced under licence by Lucasfilm Ltd, and made by N. J. Farmer Assoc. Ltd. to promote the Star Wars figures following the success of the first Star Wars film. Figures include R2-D2, C-3PO chrome, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Princess Leia (Bespin Gown), Luke Skywalker, Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot), Luke Skywalker (Bespin Fatigues), Han Solo, Han Solo (Hoth Outfit), Stormtrooper, Power Droid, Jawa, Obi-Wan Kenobi, FX-7 Medical Droid, R5-D4, Lando Calrissian, Greedo, Hammerhead, Walrus Man, Snaggletooth, Bespin Security Guard, Bossk, IG-88, Death Star Droid and a Rebel Commander. Some of the figures were hand painted by N. J. Farmer Assoc. Ltd. in the process of manufacturing the display, in order to further replicate the characters from the film, and have also been glued into action poses. Craig Stevens in his book The Star Wars Phenomenon in Britain explains that 'Palitoy commissioned N.J. Farmer and Associates to construct Star Wars figure display scenes which were loaned to selected major retail outlets'.
